The new Petzl Reverso 3 is a multi-purpose belay rappel device - a near complete revision from the original Petzl Reverso. The asymmetric V shaped grooves are friction channels that regulate the amount of braking friction on the rope according to its diameter and condition. The reverso mode attachment point is easy to identify. Overall, the device is cleaner in design, smoother in finish, and easier to use than the original.
Use: A single device for half and single ropes with all of the versatility the previous Reverso was famous for.
